The lack of robust tooling around Jupyter notebooks is a common nightmare for every data scientist. It’s astonishing how little progress has been made in notebook technology, despite its longstanding presence.

Throughout my career, I’ve used Databricks, AWS Sagemaker Studio, Google Colab, and local Jupyter notebooks. Databricks always seemed to offer the most comprehensive notebook environment for serious, enterprise-level coding. However, Google’s offering is more user-friendly and accessible.

AWS is just trying to churn out feature parity and it shows…

Over my decade or so of using these platforms, significant changes to my workflow have been rare. Yet, I must admit, the combination of Google Colab and Codeium’s Chrome plugin has been a game-changer for my productivity when coding in a browser. The plugin’s feature of real-time code completion not only speeds up the coding process but also significantly reduces errors, making debugging a breeze. Additionally, its integration with Colab enhances collaboration with team members by allowing simultaneous editing and real-time updates.

I highly recommend this setup for personal and professional use.
